FAQs
FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
THE PRINTS
What kind of prints do you sell?
Every print at Marea Studio is an archival fine art reproduction, made using professional-grade pigment inks on premium cotton rag paper. We offer each design in two options — a loose print for those who want to frame it themselves, and a framed print that comes matted and ready to hang.
What does "archival" mean?
Archival means your print is built to last. We use pigment-based inks and acid-free materials that resist fading and yellowing for decades. Unlike standard inkjet prints that degrade within a few years, a Marea print holds its color and quality long-term.
What's the difference between a loose print and a framed print?
A loose print is the artwork on its own — printed on fine art paper and shipped flat or rolled, ready for you to frame however you like. A framed print comes mounted behind a white mat board inside a classic black hardwood frame with UV-protective acrylic glazing, ready to hang straight out of the box.
What paper do you print on?
We print on heavyweight cotton rag paper — the same material used by fine art photographers and galleries. It has a beautiful subtle texture, rich color depth, and is completely acid-free.
FRAMED PRINTS
What does the frame look like?
Our frames are classic black hardwood with clean, simple lines — designed to complement the artwork without competing with it. Every framed print includes a white mat board and UV-protective acrylic glazing.
What is a mat board?
The mat board is the white border that sits between the print and the frame. It gives the artwork breathing room, creates a clean gallery-style presentation, and protects the print from touching the glazing directly.
What is UV-protective glazing?
Instead of regular glass, we use a clear acrylic with UV-filtering properties. It protects your print from fading caused by sunlight and indoor lighting, and keeps the piece lightweight and safe to ship.
Do framed prints arrive ready to hang?
Yes. Every framed print comes with hanging hardware already attached. Take it out of the box and put it on the wall.
LOOSE PRINTS
How are loose prints shipped?
Smaller prints are shipped flat in a rigid mailer to prevent bending. Larger prints are carefully rolled and shipped in a sturdy tube. Both methods are designed to protect the print in transit.
What frame size do I need for a loose print?
Each product page lists the exact print dimensions. When shopping for a frame, look for one that matches those dimensions exactly, or choose a larger frame and add your own mat board for a gallery-style look.
Can I return a loose print if the framing doesn't work out?
Because all prints are made to order, we're unable to accept returns for change of mind. If your print arrives damaged or defective, we'll replace it immediately — see our Return Policy for details.
SIZING
What sizes are available?
Available sizes vary by design and are listed on each product page. Framed print dimensions refer to the overall framed size including the mat and frame. Loose print dimensions refer to the paper size.
How do I pick the right size?
Cut a piece of paper or use painter's tape on your wall to mock up the dimensions before ordering. As a general rule, a piece looks best when it spans about two-thirds the width of the furniture beneath it. If you're unsure, reach out — we're happy to help.
Can I order a custom size?
Not at this time, but we're always adding new sizes. Email us at hello@mareastudio.com if you have a specific size in mind.
ORDERING
How do I place an order?
Select your print, choose your size and format (loose or framed), and check out. You'll receive a confirmation email straight away.
Can I change or cancel my order?
Yes, within 24 hours of purchase. After that, production has usually begun. Email hello@mareastudio.com as soon as possible with your order number.
Will the colors look exactly like my screen?
We calibrate carefully for color accuracy, but every screen displays color differently. Subtle variations are normal and are not considered defects. Most customers find the prints look even better in person.
