Viewed through the twisted teal columns of a portal, two horses graze across a snow-covered New Mexico plain with the Sangre de Cristo mountains rising dramatically behind them. Painted with the loose, luminous brushwork of the Taos Society of Artists, it captures the vast stillness of the Southwest in winter with rare intimacy.
